Assistance Dog
An assistance dog (PSD) is trained for a specific person with specific mental deficits and forms an inseparable human/animal partner team with them
PSDeurope as a framework
Attendance and implementation of a training course in theory and practice, with booking and administration via PSDeurope. Training control takes place as part of the EUR-DOGS.eu training program.
Prerequisites
The psychological needs and emotional well-being of the dog in relation to a specific person are fundamental to the training of Assistance Dogs (PSD) by PSDeurope. Official confirmation from a psychologist or doctor is required as it is crucial for acceptance into the EURO-DOGS.eu training program, which offers optimal support for both dog and future owner.
Training content
In-person training of the dog on training content for Assistance DOG (PSD) for mental disabilities. Proof of the dog's trained skills by means of short videos, which are checked for language, correctness of content, animal welfare and the procedures of licensed assistance dog trainers. The background to this is the limited ability of the group of people concerned to participate in conventional forms of training. Live tests are required in individual cases.
Additional Focus Flying and Traveling
PSDeurope training enables people to travel with their dog without any problems and to comply with airline regulations. Additional conditions can be integrated into the training program depending on the case.
Individual tasks
Creation of an individual task list for the Assistance Dog (PSD) in cooperation with the EURO-DOGS.eu dog trainer and the doctor or psychotherapist involved.
Focus of EURO-DOGS.eu
PSDeurope Training Center
Our dog school focuses on the comprehensive training of PSD dogs according to the strict standards of the US DoT as well as on the training of assistance dogs (PSD) for people with mental disabilities. This special form of training requires special knowledge and skills from both the dogs and their owners to ensure that the animals are optimally prepared for the needs of their owners. In addition, it is important that training takes place in a supportive and conducive environment so that both dog and owner can achieve the best possible results.
Licensing + Certification
Every training course at EURO-DOGS.eu within the framework of the PSDeurope guidelines and conditions follows a specific training program with elaborated special criteria for humans and animals. Dog. This program has been developed to ensure that both the trainers and the dogs achieve the highest standards in their training. Only when all defined criteria have been met in full are fulfilled and the proof of the required skills is clearly and unquestionably given, certification of the training may and can take place. training can be certified.
.
Promotion of Bonding + Relationship
In addition to training the dogs to meet the safety and hygiene requirements of global airlines, PSDeurope and EURO-DOGS.eu also aim to strengthen the bond between dogs and humans. This relationship is crucial for the well-being and performance of the dogs and enables them to live together in harmony. Therefore, we create an environment that takes into account the individual needs and unique characteristics of each dog as well as the interests of each dog owner.
Human / Dog Partner team
EURO-DOGS.eu’s approach is not aimed at teaching the dog special skills, but pursues the goal of training the complete human/animal partner team, including all psychologically induced individual limitations, so comprehensively and purposefully that the team’s travel is fundamentally safe, reliable and relaxed. Attention is paid not only to the physical but also to the mental health of humans and animals in order to ensure harmonious and stress-free cooperation.
Our inspiration
Mentally impaired people often perceive the world through very different eyes than normal people do.
They often experience intense emotions and have unique perspectives that cause them to interpret situations differently.
Mental impairment is highly individualized.
Experiences and symptoms can vary greatly from person to person, requiring an individualized approach to their needs.
Extensive studies on mental illness and impairment have clearly demonstrated the positive impact of animals, especially dogs, on the health of mentally ill people. These animals play a crucial role in the emotional stability and daily life of those affected.
With this in mind, we want to help these people to travel with their animals (especially dogs), even if this means taking the animal with them on an airplane.
In this way, we want to ensure that these special needs are also taken into account in the context of freedom to travel.
We hope that with our concept (created by the specialized support associations TAT-WAZ and VFBB) we have found a way to convince European airlines that PSDeurope Assistance Dogs (PSD) and human-animal partner teams trained by us represent an enrichment of the current acceptance profile of potential passengers.
Our aim is to break down barriers and facilitate access to travel experiences for people with mental illness.
